But there's a pretty fundamental issue with core loop of my cooking horror game, which is that cooking had no real importance to the gameplay, so I had to rethink the game design. To fix this, I ended up adding a few new layers to the gameplay, making cooking more important, rewarding players for cooking well, adding some risk and reward to incentivize cooking quickly, and a brand new CCTV insurance mechanic to balance things out.
