How quickly can you create the random props your game suddenly needs? In this video, I continue the programmer art challenge in Stove by creating a table and a wooden box from scratch, completely modeled and textured while running a timer. Instead of endlessly searching asset stores for something that almost fits, the goal is to see how quickly we can simply make exactly what the game needs.
We model both props, generate their UVs automatically, and texture them using masks, pixelation, ambient occlusion, randomized painting, and one click edge highlighting. We also use the Asset Zoo to fix the proportions between the computer, table, and box. In just nine minutes, both new assets are finished and ready to export, bringing the total time for the complete three asset set to around 20 minutes.
