A commenter called me a lazy dev for copying an idle tower defense game called Desktop Defender. Desktop Defender is a game that runs in the corner of your screen while you work, and it actually got quite popular and still has a decent player base. Now, I am making a new game called Card Corner, which is an idle poker game. It plays like a mix of Cookie Clicker and Balatro, but it uses the exact same square window that sits in the corner of your desktop. Because the UI, mechanics, and loot system look so similar, players are accusing me of stealing the design. Well, it is true that I completely ripped it off, but that is only because I am the developer who made Desktop Defender in the first place...
