I Turned a College Project into a Full Time Job

After three years of part-time development, my indie game Grove Keeper has received $100,000 in funding from the Screen Australia Games Production Fund. In this devlog, I talk through the full journey; from a small university assignment prototype, to exhibiting the game at PAX and SXSW, applying for funding, facing rejection, rebuilding the project from scratch, and eventually transitioning into full-time game development. If you're interested in indie game development, Unity, RTS design, or the realities of building a game while working another job, I hope this video gives some useful insight into what the process can actually look like. Grove Keeper is a real-time strategy game inspired by classic RTS games like Warcraft III and Age of Mythology, where players protect a magical forest using nature powers and mythical creatures.
