WE ADDED THESE 3 CRUCIAL MECHANICS TO OUR INDIE GAME | MISZOU DEVLOG #2

https://www.youtube.com/watc...
These 3 mechanics made our Indie game so much better! We added an NPC dialogue system, expanded the world of Miszou and more! We loved the feedback we received from our first devlog. If you have any more suggestions we would love to hear it. Come support our Indie game development dream What inspired our devlog voyage? As game developers ourselves, we understand that dev log videos are helpful to all aspiring game designers. We essentially want to provide educational content on game development, unity tutorials and C# programming that we wish we had access to when we began our dev voyage. Miszou will be developed with multiple programs, such as Unity engine, Autodesk Maya, Photoshop 2022, ZBrush, 3D Coat and Blender. This will be a part of Voyager Studio's Miszou Dev log series so stay tuned! For any recommendations on future content, please comment down below. Also don't forget to subscribe! The tricks you could do felt too limited so we thought and put our collective 8 brain cells together and came up with this system, we added a “Fakie” system. The fake system flips the character around and you get a whole separate array of new tricks to have fun with. This system is a great solution because it adds a Juicy extra layer of complexity, without actually making the game any harder than it needs to be, and so you sexy GAMERS can have those infinite trick combos and are going to have just as much fun as a kid or someone who’s not quite as radical as we are. Miszou wasn't in the game yet so we added that to the fakie tricks too. Maybe you get some kind of achievement for doing it? These tricks need to be animated before we can implement them. We did research on professional skaters because we’re actually incapable of moving from our chairs. Somehow we’re going to transfer these to the final models once the prototype is completed, but that is a problem for future voyager. If you don't have any explicit goal then gamers will get bored. So we added this point system! Now all of your mistakes are recorded in real time! Miszou will work with a combination style system, so going from a grind to an air trick to a toe roll, will give you epic high number! This is one of the core mechanics and dictates things like how much money you earn, your follower count and we all know that the more followers you have the more valuable you are to society. We’ve also added a Dialogue system! So you can chat to the NPC’s about quests, life, how much they can bench, why their wives left them… but most importantly they can tell you what you need to do and where you need to go! There’s going to be so many interesting characters that make up the world of Miszou so this system is super important, the story is driven by the environment and NPC’s so you can bet your ass they’re going to need to speak. We started to put a test level together too. As we’re preparing for a live testing event to make sure Miszou is fun for the public, and also get some much needed feedback. So, this tester level will dictate how well that will go and what we need to improve on in the future, if you guys are interested, we’ll make a video on how to run an indie game test too. The assets are simple now for the prototype, but we’ll amp up the look for the final game with realized textures and get it closer and closer to the concept art. We developed a Line renderer; this is crucial to the look and art style of Miszou. check out the Line renderer series from Ned Makes Games. We put this line renderer together and already the game is starting to look really cool! The visual side of things is starting to progress and we’re getting closer and closer to the Lofi look. We found that the push mechanic we had was fine but a little un-intuitive, so we added this neat little mechanic where you actually throw your controller out the window and your character knocks on your door, no really we added a small circle, that adds some timing to your pushes. This makes just moving around super fun and engaging, it’s quite similar to Olli Olli world. #indiegame #Devlog #gaming #gamedev #unity
