The quick answer is NO, players do not care about what assets you use to make your games, all they want is a fun game to play, that's it. There are examples of games very clearly using assets (some even using the Demo scenes directly) and yet they have Very Positive reviews because, again, all players want are fun games to play, regardless of how they were made.
